Over several weeks, Isabelle Grosse followed Lydie, a woman responsible for warming up the audience during a talk show. At the same time, the artist visited the Port of Le Havre to film and photograph the ceaseless ballet of container movement on the docks. These two seemingly disparate subjects reveal a shared concern with spatial organization and control.

The television studio audience represents the archetype of a human group confined within a double frame: the virtual one of the camera and the physical one of the stage space. In the realm of objects, the flow of goods through the autonomous port offers a metaphor for the standardization of trade. Isabelle is interested in how human activity fills space in the form of flows.

This concept of flow is tied to a particular notion of power specifically, its structuring and standardizing force.

The video uses parallel editing to juxtapose human gestures with the movements of two types of robots: the camera arm in the television studio and the assembly line robots in a car factory. Their movements establish a threatening, relentless rhythm that dominates the frame. In contrast, we observe more spontaneous human gestures: a painter working in a factory and the woman on the TV set who manages and energizes the audience.

The parallel editing suggests that whether in entertainment or industrial production, people are increasingly subject to the same standardizing, repetitive forces. The collision of these worlds raises questions about how human beings are shaped and conditioned

A security check at the entrance to the TV studio. Through fragmented images and looping repetition, "Tacit Agreement" captures viewers as they resigned and disciplined submit to security screening. The work stigmatizes the act of voluntary submission that integrates individuals into the system.
